Abstract: The present invention relates to an advanced robotic cleaning and disinfection system designed to operate autonomously in hospitals, clinics and other public environments. The invention also meets a critical need for efficient, reliable and consistent cleaning and disinfection, particularly in high traffic areas where there is a significant risk of transmission of infection. This system is a combination of a mobile robotic platform with a number of sensors, navigation modules, disinfection device and intelligent control unit. The main objective is to reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), improve hygiene and reduce the dependency on human cleaning staff reducing the exposure to infectious agents. The robotic system combines UV-C light, disinfectant sprayers and high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filtration to deliver total cleaning and disinfection of surfaces and air. It uses simultaneous localisation and mapping (SLAM) technology, LiDAR and advanced obstacle detection sensors for accurate navigation, route planning and real-time adaptation to dynamic environments. The invention also provides wireless connectivity for remote operation, monitoring and reporting. A user-friendly interface allows scheduling, zone prioritisation and customisation of cleaning protocols. The system can automatically sense contamination levels and change the cleaning mode according to the environmental sensors. Further safety features include human detection sensors to prevent accidental exposure to UV-C light, an emergency stop mechanism, and compliance with safety standards for operation in sensitive hospital zones. Its modular design facilitates easy maintenance, component replacement, and scalability for different facility sizes. This invention is a significant advancement in the management of hygiene in hospitals and public spaces, offering a reliable, efficient, and intelligent solution for maintaining cleanliness and reducing the spread of infectious diseases.
