MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631085571 A) filed by Birla Institute Of Technology, Mesra on July 13, 2026, for Development Of Sal-Leaf Based Biomass Catalyst For Enhanced Decomposition Of Hydrogen Peroxide Monopropellant.

Abstract: “PREPARATION OF SAL-LEAF-BASED BIOMASS CATALYST FROM SHOREA ROBUSTA LEAVES FOR DECOMPOSITION OF HYDROGEN PEROXIDE MONOPROPELLANT” Disclosed herein is a method for manufacturin-g a SAL leaf-based biomass catalyst (206) from Shorea robusta leaves (202) collected from forest biomass waste sources. The collected Shorea robusta leaves (202) are washed, dried in an environmental chamber, and ground to obtain a fine biomass powder (204), which is subjected to alkaline pretreatment using an aqueous potassium hydroxide solution to obtain a KOH-treated biomass, subsequently calcined in a programmable muffle furnace to obtain the SAL-leaf-based biomass catalyst (206) having high potassium content, large pore volume, and enriched inorganic phases for rapid decomposition of hydrogen peroxide monopropellant.
