Abstract: The Development of Universal Manual Sieve is a compact, economical, and manually operated mechanical device designed to separate particles and grains by size. Conventional hand sieving is time-consuming, inconsistent and causes operator fatigue. The proposed machine uses a manual crank and connecting-rod mechanism to convert rotary motion into reciprocating motion of a sieve tray. Interchangeable mesh screens allow separation of different particle sizes. The machine operates without electricity and is intended for agricultural applications, small-scale industries, laboratories and educational institutions. Testing with rice, wheat and sand demonstrated satisfactory separation, stable operation and reduced manual effort. The system is portable, easy to maintain and suitable for rural and small-scale applications.
