MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641008510 A) filed by Government Engineering College Idukki; and Catholicate College, Pathanamthitta on January 28, 2026, for Device For Air Purification, Oxygen Generation And Illumination.
Inventors include Rajeev Rajan; Thomas Valukattil Ponnachen; Binoy Thundiathu Thomas; Niranjan B. R; Mohammed Safwan M. M; Vishnu Prasad N.; and Jobina Krishnan. N..
The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.
Abstract: A device (1000) for integrated air purification, oxygen generation, and illumination is disclosed. The device comprises an illumination unit (100) having a tube (102) containing an algae medium (112) in water, with an inlet port (104), an outlet port (106), and top openings (108), and inner LED light strips (110) for controlled illumination. A container (200) downstream includes a pump (214), an algae storage unit (212), a sedimentation unit (210), a semi-permeable membrane (208) with a pressure pump (224), a power unit (218), and a control module (216). The pump (214) circulates the algae-water mixture at a predetermined flow rate and velocity. The sedimentation unit (210) separates solids, while clarified water is filtered through the membrane (208). Continuous recirculation is maintained. A smart monitoring and control unit (300) optimizes photosynthesis, air purification, oxygen generation, and illumination performance. Reference
