Abstract: Present disclosure discloses a device for closing a taphole of a blast furnace is disclosed. The device includes a clay pushing arrangement connectable to a drill machine associated with the blast furnace. The barrel is defined with a first end, a second end and a cavity between the first end and the second end. The cavity is configured to store a taphole closing material. Further, the device includes an actuating mechanism movably positioned at the second end. The actuating mechanism is configured to displace within the barrel to discharge the material out of the barrel through the first end for closing the taphole. The device aids in closing the tap hole, during failure of a mud gun to close the taphole, thereby preventing any catastrophic failures during operation of the blast furnace.
