Abstract: TITLE: DEVICE FOR LOW FREQUENCY OCEAN WAVE ENERGY HARVESTING SYSTEM APPLICANT: 1. PONDICHERRY UNIVERSITY 2. TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION HUB –IIT GUWAHATI ABSTRACT The present invention discloses a floating piezoelectric-based wave energy converter system for harvesting electrical energy from low-frequency ocean waves. The system comprises a buoyant casing with inlet and outlet vents, an internal circular disc constrained to vertical motion, piezoelectric sensing elements mounted within the casing, and a mechanical amplification system that magnifies strain imparted to the sensing elements under low-amplitude wave conditions. An integrated energy conditioning circuit, including rectifier, capacitor bank, and DC-DC converter, stabilizes and regulates the harvested energy. The generated power can be used to operate sensor units and communication modules for autonomous marine monitoring and data transmission. The casing and disc are fabricated from marine- grade alloys or fiber-reinforced composites with anti-corrosion coatings, ensuring durability in seawater. The system is modular, environmentally friendly, lightweight, and scalable, suitable for powering marine IoT devices, navigation buoys, offshore aquaculture farms, and coastal protection applications.
