Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to devices and methods of communication. In one aspect, upon reception of a configuration for enabling a mechanism of stopping or reducing a retransmission of a RLC SDU, a terminal device may transmit, from a PDCP entity to lower layers, an indication to perform an operation comprising at least one of the following: stopping the retransmission of the RLC SDU; or applying a reduced retransmission number for the RLC SDU. In this way, a RLC AM retransmission stop or reduction mechanism may be carried out. Resource efficiency may be improved by avoiding unnecessary RLC AM retransmissions.
