MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202415090679 A) filed by Apple Inc. on November 21, 2024, for Differential Drive And Sense For Touch Sensor Panel.
Inventors include Smith, John Stephen; Nayyar, Amit; Reynolds, Joseph Kurth; Vaze, Sagar Rajiv; and Yousefpor, Marduke.
The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.
Abstract: Touch sensor panels (500) (or touch screens) can improve signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) using touch electrode patterns for differential drive and/or differential sense techniques. In some examples, a touch sensor panel (500) can include a twodimensional array of touch nodes (226, 227) formed from a plurality of touch electrodes (404, 406). Each column (or row) of touch nodes (226, 227) can be driven with a plurality of drive signals. In some examples, the first drive signal and the second drive signal can be complimentary drive signals. In some examples, each row (or column) of touch electrodes (404, 406) can be sensed by differential sense circuitry (508A to 508D, 608A to 608D).
