Abstract: A method for wireless communication at a user equipment, UE, (115) comprising: transmitting (305; 1605) sidelink discontinuous reception, DRX, information to a base station (105) while operating in a connected mode; receiving (1610) a first radio resource control, RRC, reconfiguration message including a sidelink DRX configuration from the base station (105) based at least in part on the sidelink DRX information, the DRX configuration comprising a first DRX pattern for relay discovery monitoring; receiving a second radio resource control, RRC, reconfiguration message from the base station (105) comprising a second DRX pattern for reception over a Uu interface; and communicating (1615) using a sidelink channel, wherein the communicating includes monitoring the sidelink channel to receive a discovery signal from a second UE during an active duration of a DRX cycle of the first DRX pattern based at least in part on the sidelink DRX configuration.
