Also, the present invention provides a dispersant for a carbon nanotube or a carbon nanotube composition comprising a reaction product of (a) a maleated natural oil with maleated functionality; (b) a base; and (c) a functionalized or unfunctionalized moiety selected from the group consisting of hydrophobic moieties, hydrophilic moieties, and combinations thereof. The dispersant for carbon nanotubes or carbon nanotube compositions comprising reaction products of this invention are used in lithium-ion or sodium ion batteries.
