MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611109698 A) filed by Manav Rachna University on September 12, 2026, for Distributed Machining Centre Tool Wear Prediction System.

Inventors include Dr Vivek Sharma; and Dr. Bhim Singh.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: Disclosed is a distributed machining centre tool wear prediction system comprising a plurality of machining centres communicating with a coordinating server. Each machining centre comprises a spindle carrying a replaceable cutting tool, a workpiece table, a cutting-response sensor, a tool-position controller and a local processor storing a wear-prediction model. The local processor trains the wear-prediction model using sensed cutting response and an identified tool condition and transmits model-update parameters without corresponding raw production records. The coordinating server evaluates received model updates, aggregates parameter changes corresponding to accepted updates and returns an updated shared model. The local processor applies the updated shared model to distinguish a compensable wear condition from a non-compensable tool condition, applies a limited positional correction while the predicted wear remains compensable, and prevents commencement of a further workpiece cycle when the predicted tool condition is non-compensable.
