Abstract: A method is disclosed for non-destructive integrity characterization of composite pressure containment using distributed strain signature inference. A plurality of strain sensors (130) is embedded at selected depths and regions within a fibre reinforced composite laminate (120) of a pressure containment structure comprising a liner (100) and metallic bosses (110). Sensor locations are determined using finite element analysis (170) and a sensor location optimiser (173) based on stress concentration, stress gradients and sensitivity to manufacturing variation. During controlled testing and service loading, the sensors acquire layer-resolved and region-resolved strain responses. A structural fingerprint generator (180) processes the responses through feature extraction and normalization to generate a structural fingerprint (181). The fingerprint is associated with finite element predictions and manufacturing parameters in a batch manufacturing database (190). A batch comparison engine (191) statistically compares fingerprints to identify anomalous response signatures and correlate integrity deviations among pressure containment structures.
