MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611116382 A) filed by Chandigarh University on September 29, 2026, for Downstream Fluidized Micro-Particle Solid-Fuel Injection System For Scramjet Thrust Augmentation.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to scramjet propulsion and provides a secondary solid-fuel injection system for late-stage thrust augmentation. A powder feeder tank (3) stores micro-sized metallic fuel and cooperates with a fluidizing pipe (2) supplied with compressed helium to establish a gas-suspended particle stream. A conveying-air path (4) transfers the fluidized particles to a powder injector (6), which discharges a gas-particle mixture into a downstream combustion region near an inlet of a scramjet nozzle. A supplementary-air path (5) promotes particle dispersion. The downstream location introduces the metallic fuel into a high-enthalpy combustion flow for secondary combustion without replacing the primary fuel injection arrangement. A control unit and sensor suite may selectively actuate the injection based on combustion-chamber temperature, Mach number, pressure ratio and nozzle heat level. The system provides a modular gas-assisted arrangement for controlled delivery of micro-sized solid metallic fuel to a downstream scramjet flow.
