Abstract: This invention describes an IoT-based drip irrigation monitoring system in which pressure sensor nodes distributed along a lateral line locally pre-screen their own readings and temporarily increase their sampling rate in response to a local deviation. A server maintains a flow-adjusted baseline pressure model for each node, calibrated from known-good operating periods, and compares incoming readings against this baseline to compute a pressure residual per node. The pattern of residuals across adjacent nodes is used to bracket a detected anomaly to a specific hydraulic segment of the line, and a sub-segment localization step estimates the blockage's approximate distance within that segment from the asymmetry of excess pressure loss on either side of the fault. The same residual pattern classifies the event as a blockage or a leak, and a severity index is computed from the associated flow deficit to prioritize the resulting farmer-facing alert. Numerical simulation of the system demonstrates an 83.1% reduction in false-alert rate relative to fixed-threshold monitoring, correct segment-bracketing in 92.4% of simulated blockage events, a median sub-segment localization error of 1.4 metres within 8-metre segments, and a blockage/leak classification accuracy of 94.6%, validating the invention's core mechanisms ahead of physical field deployment.
