Abstract: ABSTRACT A driver communication control system and method for automatically restricting driver communications during vehicle operation are disclosed. The system comprises a vehicle motion detection module, a driver device identification module, a communication control module, an emergency override module, an auto-response module, and a communication restoration module. Vehicle operational data and driver-specific device information are utilized to generate a communication restriction state only upon concurrent verification of vehicle motion and driver-device association. The system simultaneously controls cellular, Bluetooth, infotainment-routed, and Voice-over-Internet-Protocol communication channels while permitting authorized emergency communications and restoring communication functionality upon cessation of vehicle motion, thereby reducing driver distraction and improving road safety.
