MUMBAI, India, Aug. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641083886 A) filed by Christ University on July 08, 2026, for Dual-Mode Fluorescent Probe For The Ratiometric Detection Of Tryptophan And Turn-On Detection Of Cu2+ With Biological Studies.

Inventors include Avijit Kumar Das; and Malavika S Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.

Abstract: A viscosity-responsive dual-mode chemosensor (AMT) was developed through Knoevenagel condensation reaction for the ratiometric fluorescent detection of tryptophan (Trp) and turn-on detection of Cu^*’ at different emission wavelengths operating through chemodosimeter and aggregation pathways respectively. Tn low- viscosity environments, AMT emitted weak fluorescence; however, upon increasing the viscosity with varying proportions of glycerol, the fluorescence intensity enhanced by six-fold at 560 nm making the probe suitable for quantitative viscosity measurement. The rapid sensing capability of AMI toward Trp was evidenced by 1 low detection limit of 6.28 pM, whereas the binding affinity of AMI for Cu-‘ was confirmed by a slimit of detection of 0.49 pM and a high binding constant of 10^ M'k The sensing mechanism of AMI for Try and Cif' was validated through fluorescence analysis, UV-vA spectroscopy, ijlMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and DFT calculations. Furthermore, binding studies with E?NA, BSA, ovalbumin, and pig liver esterase (PLE) were performed to investigate the provable biological applications of this sensor and the binding mechanism was justified by in-silico molecular docking study.
