Abstract: ABSTRACT DUAL-MODE SYSTEM FOR REDUCING MOBILE DISTRACTION USING SOFTWARE CONTROLS AND IoT-ENABLED PHYSICAL INTERVENTIONS A dual-mode system (100) for reducing mobile device distraction in domestic environments combining software-based controls with IoT-enabled physical interventions. The system comprises a cross-platform mobile application (110) with geofence-activated home mode enforcing time-limited social media access and AI-powered notification filtering, and an IoT subsystem (120) including a smart mobile rack (130) for physically securing smartphones, an edge-based notification routing engine (140) employing machine learning classifiers for urgency-based notification prioritization, and fixed in-home tablets (150) displaying filtered high- priority alerts. All data processing occurs locally via encrypted channels ensuring privacy. An emergency override mechanism maintains critical connectivity. The combined deployment achieves up to forty percent screen time reduction while preserving essential communication pathways, surpassing software-only or physical- only approaches. [
