Abstract: The present invention discloses a dual-ended interchangeable modular periodontal curette instrument, designated the DuoCurette, designed to consolidate the functionalities of multiple area-specific and universal curettes into a single customizable device. The instrument comprises an elongated central handle featuring two oppositely positioned threaded receptacle slots, each capable of accepting a variety of screw-on interchangeable curette tips. The interchangeable tip set includes six curette variants spanning two primary categories. The area-specific Gracey curette tips include the Gracey 1/2 for anterior teeth, the Gracey 7/8 for posterior buccal and lingual surfaces, the Gracey 11/12 for posterior mesial surfaces, and the Gracey 13/14 for posterior distal surfaces, each uniquely angulated for optimal subgingival access to specific tooth regions. The universal curette tips include the Columbia Universal 13/14, designed for use across all tooth surfaces and sextants, and the Langer 1/2, which combines Gracey angulation with universal applicability for comprehensive multi-surface debridement. The central handle is ergonomically designed with a knurled textured surface providing superior grip, control, and stability during clinical procedures. The entire instrument, including all interchangeable tips, is fabricated from high-grade corrosion-resistant stainless steel, ensuring full biocompatibility and compatibility with standard autoclave sterilization protocols.
