Abstract: A dynamic wireless power transfer (DWPT) system for charging an electric vehicle (EV) while in motion is disclosed. The system comprises a plurality of roadside transmitter coil segments arranged along a roadway infrastructure, such as a guardrail or roadside barrier, each segment configured to generate a high-frequency alternating magnetic field. The electric vehicle is equipped with two receiver coil mounted on its left and right sides. This dual side-mounted arrangement allow the vehicle to receive wireless power continuously, even when it is not perfectly aligned with the roadside charging infrastructure, thereby improving charging reliability during vehicle movement. An electromagnetic shielding layer is disposed between each side-mounted receiver coil and a passenger cabin of the EV, configured to limit electromagnetic field (EMF) exposure to occupants. A battery management system (BMS) onboard the EV continuously monitors at least a state of charge (SOC), voltage, and temperature of a traction battery and transmits said battery status data to a roadside control unit via vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication. The roadside control unit selectively activates only transmitter coil segments proximate to the EV based on the received battery status data, sequentially energizing segments ahead of the EV and de-energizing segments passed by the EV. When the BMS indicates that the SOC approaches a predetermined target threshold (e.g., 100%), the roadside control unit reduces or terminates wireless power transmission to that EV, thereby preventing battery overcharging. The proposed system provides reliable wireless charging under varying lane positions by using dual side-mounted receiver coils. Integrated electromagnetic shielding improves passenger safety, while real- time BMS communication supports intelligent every management by selectively activating the required roadside transmitter segments.
