Abstract: Title: Eco-Friendly Copper Nanoparticles Mosquito Repellents The present invention discloses an eco-friendly method for synthesizing copper nanoparticles (CuNPs) using orange peel extract as a natural, sustainable precursor. This approach repurposes agricultural waste, minimizing environmental impact and offering a cost- effective alternative to conventional nanoparticle synthesis methods. The process involves the preparation of orange peel extract, reaction with a copper precursor, and subsequent isolation and characterization of the nanoparticles. Characterization techniques, including Energy Dispersive X-ray Analysis (EDX), Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), confirmed the structural, compositional, and morphological properties of the synthesized nanoparticles. The CuNPs exhibited a crystalline structure with an average particle size of 42.28 nm and a composition primarily comprising copper (71.23%), oxygen (13.84%), and carbon (14.93%). Furthermore, the synthesized copper nanoparticles were incorporated into a mosquito repellent formulation. This eco-friendly repellent, developed using orange peel powder and coconut fibers as base materials, effectively disrupts mosquito cell membranes and enzymatic activity, providing a sustainable solution to mosquito-borne diseases. The invention highlights the dual benefits of agricultural waste valorization and nanoparticle-based applications, contributing to sustainable development while addressing public health challenges. This green synthesis approach is scalable, environmentally benign, and holds promise for diverse applications in medicine, agriculture, and environmental management.
