Abstract: The present invention relates to the field of forensic science, specifically to the development of eco-friendly hydrogel nanocomposites for the detection and removal of azo dyes from environmental samples. The invention comprises a natural polysaccharide-based gum derived from Buteamonosperma, forming a three-dimensional crosslinked polymer network, integrated with zinc oxide nanoparticles synthesized via a sol-gel method. The hydrogel matrix is further enhanced by the polymerization of acrylic acid, using ammonium persulphate as an initiator and N, N-methylene bis-acrylamide as a cross-linker, with the synthesis process employing microwave irradiation to reduce the need for harsh chemicals. This innovative approach not only increases the surface area and active sites for dye adsorption but also ensures biodegradability, stability, and biocompatibility of the hydrogel matrix. The method dissolves Buteamonosperma gum in distilled water, adds the initiator, monomer, and cross-linker, and incorporates zinc oxide nanoparticles in the final step.
