Abstract: The present invention relates to the development of eco-friendly products fabricated from recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and carbon-rich char derived from microwave-assisted pyrolysis of municipal solid waste (MSW). The invention provides a dual waste management solution by simultaneously utilizing post-consumer PET and MSW to produce high-value composite materials. The process comprises collecting and processing PET waste into granules, producing char via microwave- assisted pyrolysis of MSW, blending PET with the char in ratios of 5–40 wt.%, and shaping the blend into panels or molded furniture using extrusion, molding, or additive manufacturing techniques. The resulting products exhibit enhanced mechanical strength, thermal stability, fire resistance, and durability compared to conventional recycled plastics and wood-based materials. The invention offers a sustainable, cost-effective, and scalable alternative to plywood, MDF, particleboard, and virgin polymer composites, thereby reducing deforestation, landfill burden, and carbon emissions while enabling circular economy practices.
