Abstract: The invention proposes a Smart Bin(S-Bin) to improve waste management efficiency in urban and institutional environments. Traditional waste bins require manual monitoring and often lead to overflow, poor waste segregation, and inefficient collection processes. The proposed system integrates Internet of Things (IoT) technology, ultrasonic sensors, and automated waste segregation mechanisms to create an intelligent waste management solution. The smart bin continuously monitors the fill level of waste using ultrasonic sensors and sends real-time data to a centralized monitoring platform through IoT connectivity. When the waste level reaches a predefined threshold, the system automatically sends notifications to waste management authorities for timely collection. The system incorporates automatic waste segregation using sensors that identify different types of waste materials such as biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste. This approach reduces environmental pollution and improves recycling efficiency.
