MUMBAI, India, Aug. 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541005820 A) filed by Vijayanagara Sri Krishnadevaraya University on January 24, 2025, for Ecofriendly Cost-Effective Method Of Conversion Of Cloth Waste Into Bioethanol.
Inventors include Dr. Krishnaveni R; Shri Rudresh S N; Dr. Shubha S; and Dr. Narayan Moger.
The application for the patent was published on July 31, 2026, under issue no. 31/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure discloses a method (100) for converting cloth waste into bioethanol. This method (100) approaches an eco-friendly and cost-effective method for converting textile waste, particularly cotton, into bioethanol. The method (100) begins with the microbial breakdown of cloth into pulp using acid-producing bacteria, followed by enzymatic treatment to remove dyes. Cellulose-degrading bacteria then convert the pulp into fermentable sugars, which are fermented using yeast and Acacia wood to produce bioethanol. By utilizing natural microbial processes, this innovative approach eliminates the need for harsh chemicals, providing a safer and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional biomass conversion. This method (100) addresses textile waste disposal while promoting resource conservation and supporting circular economy principles Figure 1 will be the reference.
