Abstract: The present invention provides: an effect pigment preparation that does not need to be heated during the mixing of raw materials and that is miscible with a thermoplastic resin; a thermoplastic resin composition that contains the effect pigment preparation; and a method for producing a paint or ink containing the effect pigment preparation. According to the present invention, provided are: an effect pigment preparation containing a total of 99 mass% or more of an effect pigment and a polyalphaolefin (PAO), the effect pigment preparation being characterized in that the PAO is liquid at 40°C, and, with respect to the effect pigment preparation, the effect pigment accounts for 75-95 mass%, the PAO accounts for 5-25 mass%, and a volatile organic compound accounts for 1 mass% or less; a thermoplastic resin composition containing the effect pigment preparation; and a method for producing a paint or ink containing the effect pigment preparation.
