Abstract: Sustainable concrete is a widely focused topic in view of the environmental impact of cement. Substitute materials are typically industrial and municipal wastes. Eggshell powder which is a common municipal waste and used as cement replacement is a viable option to produce green concrete. At the same time, it progresses the disposal of eggshell, which is thrown away as household waste in the environment and mostly ends up in the landfill. This study reviews the constituents, production techniques and properties of eggshell powder (ESP) based cement blocks. The suitability of the eggshell waste as cement replacement was studied by investigating the strength and durability properties of the cement blocks substituted with egg shell powder as a cementitious substitute. When compared to traditional concrete, ESP mixes offer a number of benefits at the ideal composition of 10%. The benefits are linked to eggshell powder's high calcium content and effective filling action. It is observed that cement blocks prepared with egg shell powder as cement replacement material possess enhanced resistance water penetration, shortened setting times, and better toughened qualities.
