Abstract: Present disclosure proposes maintaining the thermal stability of electric motor even at higher speeds with reduced energy requirements. When an electric motor rotates at higher speeds, an airgap flux is generated between its rotor and stator. The present disclosure proposes a strategical arrangement of piezoelectric crystal on the rotor along with the permanent magnets that help in the utilization of the outward force of the rotor in stress application on the piezoelectric crystal. This stress application on piezoelectric crystal leads to the generation of negative d-axis current and magnetic flux in reverse direction once the rotor rotates above the minimum speed. Generation of magnetic flux in opposite direction helps in reduction of the airgap flux generated between the stator and the rotor. Further, the negative d-axis current generation reduces the supply current requirement which leads to improvement in the overall efficiency and the stability of the motor. [Fig. 1B]
