Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to an electrochemical pH sensor assembly (100) for soil health monitoring. The pH sensor assembly (100) includes an electrode assembly (104) disposed on a substrate (102), including a working electrode (108) formed with biomass derived nanostructures dispersed in a polymeric binder matrix and solvent. The nanostructures provide proton responsive functional groups for pH detection. A reference electrode (106) formed adjacent to the working electrode (108) provides a stable potential, while a counter electrode (110) ensures current balance. The electrode assembly (104) is encapsulated with a biocompatible coating (112) to enable long term immersion in soil. The pH sensor assembly (100) operates such that the potential difference between the working electrode (108) and reference electrode (106) varies proportionally with hydrogen ion concentration. Protonation and deprotonation reactions at the nanostructure surface modulate electrode potential, which is recorded by an integrated measurement unit (114) to deliver real time soil pH values.
