Abstract: The invention relates to an electromechanical brake which is characterized by: a.) an electric motor (1) which drives a spindle (3) that has a rotational profile (2) so as to advance the brake, wherein the brake is designed such that a predefined position (P) between a pin element (5), which presses against the rotational profile (2) of the spindle (3), and the rotational profile (2) of the spindle (3) is maintained using a position detection process during the operation of the electromechanical brake; or b.) an electric motor (1) which drives a spindle (3) that has a pin element (5) so as to advance the brake, said brake being designed such that a predefined position (P) between the pin element (5), which presses against a rotational profile (2) of a force transmission element (4), and the rotational profile (2) of the force transmission element (4) is maintained using a position detection process during the operation of the electromechanical brake.
