Inventors include Vishal Balaso Patil; Mr. Ganesh Kumar Raje.; Mr. Shanteshwar Suresh Dhanure.; Ms. Anushka Suresh Satyanna.; and Ms. Ayesha Jabbar Shaikh..
The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.
Abstract: The bumper is a structural component designed to absorb impact. The system consists of a combination of shock absorbers and pneumatic cylinders. It operates when a sensor mounted on the bumper detects an object in front of it within a predetermined distance. At that point, it commands the electronic control unit to supply air to the pneumatic cylinders. When an object collides with the vehicle, the bumper, being the first point of contact, absorbs the initial shock by compressing the air inside the pneumatic cylinders. If the impact exceeds the absorption capacity, the shock absorbers activate. The shock absorbers then absorb the maximum amount of shock, and if the force is still too great, it is transferred to the vehicle's main frame or chassis. The system draws power from the vehicle's battery to operate the electronic components. The “electropneumatic shock absorbing bumper system for commercial vehicle” is designed in such a way that it will pre detect the collision and absorb the shock when vehicles gets collide as shown in figure 1.the bumper(41) is connected to main frame (44) with the help of guide bars (42) and guide bush (43).pneumatic cylinder (45) is attached in between main frame (44) and bumper (41) with the help of cylinder bumper support (46) by using pins (47). support frame (48) is used to take additional collision shock and it is connected to the shock absorber (49). shock absorber (49) is rigidly fixed to the main frame (44) by using nut bolts (62) and shock absorber side support (50) and shock absorber top support (51). cushion layer (52) is attached to bumper (41). Ultrasonic sensor (53) is mounted at main bumper (41) and it is connected to the electronic control unit (55). Direction control valve (54) is attached to the electronic control unit (55). Direction control valve (54) is connected to the pneumatic cylinder (45) by using A port connector (57), B port connector (58), T connector (59) and pneumatic tubes (60). Compressed air tank (63) is connected to direction control valve (54). Switch (61) is used to turn on and off the power supply from battery (56) to electronic control unit (55). Fig.1, 2 & 3.
