The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a multifunctional electrospun nanofibrous scaffold fabricated from polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and sodium alginate (SA) incorporating ferulic acid (FA), and a process for its preparation. PVA and SA are blended in optimized proportions, and FA is homogeneously incorporated into the polymer solution, which is subsequently electrospun under controlled process conditions to obtain a continuous, uniform, bead-free nanofibrous scaffold. The scaffold is characterized by its surface morphology, fiber diameter, chemical compatibility of its constituents, crystallinity, thermal stability, mechanical strength, swelling behavior, and in vitro FA release profile. The fabricated scaffolds exhibit significant antioxidant activity (evaluated via DPPH/ABTS radical scavenging assays), pronounced antimicrobial activity against representative Gram-positive and Gram-negative wound-associated pathogens, and favorable biocompatibility together with enhanced wound-healing performance, as evidenced by cell viability, cell migration, and wound-closure/re-epithelialization studies. The invention provides a low-cost, biodegradable, biocompatible, and reproducibly manufacturable nanofibrous scaffold suitable for use as an advanced antioxidant—antimicrobial wound dressing, skin- substitute scaffold, or topical therapeutic delivery patch, particularly for chronic, diabetic, and slow-healing wounds
