MUMBAI, India, June 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641056380 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences on May 04, 2026, for Endomeasure -Colour-Coded Measurement - Integrated Endodontic Hand File.

Inventors include Dr. Shivani Gupta; Dr. Jayanth Kumar Vadivel; and Deepak Nallaswamy Veeraiyan.

The application for the patent was published on June 26, 2026, under issue no. 26/2026.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a colour-coded measurement-integrated endodontic hand file that enables direct intraoral working length assessment during root canal instrumentation. The hand file comprises a working shaft provided with permanent, high-contrast colour-coded circumferential markings positioned at predetermined distances from the file tip, corresponding to standardized working length measurements. These colour markings allow the clinician to visually assess and maintain the working length by aligning the appropriate colour band with a stable coronal reference point, thereby eliminating the need for external measuring instruments such as endodontic rulers. The invention enhances procedural efficiency, reduces measurement errors caused by rubber stopper displacement, minimizes instrument handling, and improves ergonomic workflow. The colour-coded markings are wearresistant and compatible with repeated sterilization cycles, ensuring durability and clinical reliability. This invention provides a simplified, accurate, and ergonomically advantageous approach to working length control in endodontic practice.
