Abstract: Literary forms like poetry, novels, drama, short stories, one-act plays, etc. play a pivotal role in enriching culture and the socio- economic milieu. Short story is the oldest form of literature. Short stories were transmitted orally from generation to generation before the invention of script. They are popular among children, young and old. There are different purposes of ‘story-telling’. No doubt, entertain is one purpose. Apart from that, short stories are didactic in nature. Short stories encompass major functions like giving instructions, teaching moral lessons, entertaining the audience, and disseminating social and cultural values, etc. ‘Narration’ is the soul of ‘story-telling’. In the recent decades, television shows, cartoons, the internet, YouTube, multimedia, OTT platforms, etc., have distracted students’ interest in studying short stories. The use of AI powered platforms like StoryBee and Storywizard can develop students’ interest in studying short stories. Both these platforms keep children engaged in learning short stories.
