Abstract: Abstract: Engineered Rhizosphere Microbial Consortia for Bioremediation of Pesticide Residues in Soil The present invention relates to engineered rhizosphere microbial consortia for bioremediation of pesticide residues in soil. More particularly, the invention provides a metagenomically characterized microbial remediation system and method for restoration of pesticide-contaminated agricultural soil associated with crop rhizospheres. The invention comprises collection of rhizospheric soil samples, extraction of metagenomic DNA and microbial proteins, molecular amplification, microbial sequencing, and identification of pesticide-responsive microbial populations. Pesticide-tolerant microorganisms including Pseudomonas species, Bacillus species, Aspergillus species, and Rhizobium species are isolated, enriched, and formulated into engineered microbial consortia for biodegradation of pesticide residues. The invention further evaluates microbial biomass, DNA integrity, nodulation status, and rhizospheric biological activity under pesticide stress conditions. The engineered microbial consortia are applied through bioaugmentation, rhizospheric inoculation, or biostimulation for restoration of soil microbial balance, enhancement of nitrogen fixation, improvement of plant growth, and reduction of pesticide toxicity, thereby enabling sustainable agricultural productivity and environmental remediation.
