Abstract: A method of generating syngas is provided. The method includes introducing a dry feedstock of solid biomass to a mill, the dry feedstock of solid biomass having a moisture content of at least 2% and a biogenic carbon content of at least 90%. The method also includes milling the dry feedstock of solid biomass to form a milled output of solid particles, where at least 95% of the solid particles in the milled output have a size less than 2 mm. The method further includes gasifying at least a portion of the milled output in an entrained flow gasifier to form syngas.
