The application for the patent was published on July 10, 2026, under issue no. 28/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a recombinant Equine Herpesvirus-1 (EHV-1) vectored bivalent vaccine and methods for its preparation. The invention provides a genetically modified EHV-1 construct comprising deletion of virulence-associated genes including IR6 and glycoprotein E, and insertion of a codon-optimized haemagglutinin gene of Equine Influenza Virus (EIV) H3N8 Florida Clade 2 lineage. The recombinant construct is generated using bacterial artificial chromosome-based recombinant engineering and markerless mutagenesis. The invention further provides a recombinant EHV-1 vector vaccine virus capable of inducing protective immune responses against both EHV-1 and EIV infections.
