MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611059204 A) filed by Dr. Mukesh Kumar Singh; Mr. Ashwanee Kumar Sahu; Mr. Rajendra Kumar Sahu; Ms. Pratibha Jaiswal; Mr. Onkar Kurre; Mr. Sandeep Chandravanshi; Mr. Durgesh Yadav; and Mr. Jwala Singh Chandel on May 09, 2026, for Evaluation Of Anti-Oxidant And Antimicrobial Activities Of Hydroalcoholic Extract Of Nepeta Hindostana.

Abstract: The present invention provides a standardized hydroalcoholic extract obtained from the aerial parts of Nepeta hindostana (Roth) Haines using ethanol and water in a volume ratio of 70:30 by cold maceration, vacuum concentration and lyophilization. The said extract is enriched in polyphenols and flavonoids and exhibits potent free-radical scavenging activity with DPPH and ABTS IC50 values of about 38 and 30 micrograms per millilitre respectively, comparable to ascorbic acid. The extract further demonstrates broad- spectrum antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger, with minimum inhibitory concentrations in the range of 125 to 250 micrograms per millilitre. The invention also discloses a process for preparing the said extract and pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and topical compositions thereof.
