MUMBAI, India, July 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641081630 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai on July 02, 2026, for Event-Driven Spring-Actuated Jewellery Chain Locking System With Authenticated Release.
Inventors include Anagh Vasishtha; Aryan Verma; and Anita X.
The application for the patent was published on July 10, 2026, under issue no. 28/2026.
Abstract: A jewellery chain-locking system (100) includes a jewellery housing (102) defining an internal chain channel (104) through which a jewellery chain (112) moves during normal wear. A mechanical locking assembly (132) within jewellery housing (102) includes a pawl (110) movable between an unlocked position permitting chain movement and a locked position immobilizing jewellery chain (112). A preloaded spring (128) biases pawl (110) toward the locked position, and an electrically actuated retention trigger (116) retains pawl (110) in the unlocked position. A chain tension sensor (114-A) provides tension information to a control subsystem (130), which performs event confirmation to identify a snatch event and actuates retention trigger (116) to release the spring and drive pawl (110) to the locked position, maintaining lock without electrical power. Unlocking is permitted only after verified authenticated release via secure authentication interface (124) over authentication communication link (122).
