Abstract: Abstract Reinforced concrete (RC) beams are widely used in structural systems; however, conventional solid RC beams often result in increased self-weight, leading to higher material consumption and greater dead loads on supporting members. Although hollow core beams have been introduced to reduce structural weight, their application is often limited by concerns about reduced stiffness, increased cracking, and reduced load-carrying capacity. Furthermore, limited research has been conducted on the combined use of hollow core configurations and steel fiber reinforcement to address these deficiencies. To bridge this gap, the present study proposes a hollow core reinforced concrete beam incorporating hooked-end steel fibers at approximately 1.5% of the concrete volume. The central hollow section effectively reduces self-weight, while the steel fibers enhance tensile strength, ductility, energy absorption, and crack resistance. Experimental observations indicate that the proposed beam exhibits improved load-carrying capacity, reduced deflection, and better control of crack propagation compared to conventional solid RC beams. The developed system offers a lightweight, durable, and structurally efficient alternative for modern construction, contributing to sustainable and economical structural design.
