MUMBAI, India, June 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441100128 A) filed by Gm University on December 17, 2024, for Extraction Of Anti-Odour Compounds From Arabidopsis Thaliana For Treating Foul Smell In Recycled Sewage Water.
Inventors include Gurumurthy H; Meghana L; and Pramod Bhavanoor.
The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.
Abstract: Title: Extraction of Anti-Odour Compounds from Arabidopsis thaliana for Treating Foul Smell in Recycled Sewage Water The invention at hand offers a responsible mechanism for cleaning urine within a sewage system by emitting hydrogen peroxide produced by Arabidopsis thaliana. Besides if the hydrogen peroxide which is extracted is used for the correction of odours caused by some oxide groups like amines and mercaptans, it will replace the sense similar smells but will not result in any side products. This green technique, along with others, contributes to the quality of the water used in agriculture and sustainable wastewater management.
