MUMBAI, India, June 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641048448 A) filed by Mepco Schlenk Engineering College on April 16, 2026, for Extraction Of Bioactive Compound From Caesalpinia Bonducella Using Deep Eutectic Solvent And Use Thereof.

Inventors include Dr. R. Karthikeyan; Dr. M. Sankar; A. Aishvarya; A. Ashronica Fernando; and N. Keerthana.

The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.

Abstract: This invention describes a new way of extracting therapeutic biocompatiblecompounds from Caesalpinia bonducella seeds related to the treatment of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). The extraction process uses both organic solvents and deep eutectic solvents (DES) to increase the amount of biocompatible compounds produced from the extraction process. The biocompatible compounds obtained by extraction were analyzed using GC-MS to identify the key phytochemicals produced during the extraction process. Bonducellin was identified as one of the most important biocompatible compounds due to its anti-estrogenic and anti-androgenic properties. In addition, molecular docking studies have shown its high binding affinity to PCOSrelated molecules and support its potential use as a natural treatment for patients with PCOS. This invention offers an environmentally friendly, efficient and scientifically validated method of developing plant-based treatments for PCOS.
