MUMBAI, India, July 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621067734 A) filed by Marwadi University on May 29, 2026, for Federated Learning-Enabled Training Device For Medical Students.

Inventors include Kuruva Manipranav; Karne Pavankumar; Simrin Fathima Syed; Dr. Madhu Shukla; Vipul Ladva; Akshay Ranpariya; and Neel Dholakia.

Abstract: A federated learning-enabled training device for medical students, comprising an artificial intelligence (AI) camera 102 with a PIR sensor to detect and authenticate a trainee, a touchscreen display 103 for delivering theoretical instruction related to suturing principles, wound assessment, tool identification, and procedural sequencing in the trainee’s selected language, a 3D holographic projector 104 to project visual content, a pair of articulated robotic arms 106 with a three-finger gripper 107 to simulate the procedures and also to sequentially retrieve suturing scissors, toothed forceps, needle holders, needles, scalpels, absorbable and non-absorbable sutures, and hemostats from respective sections of the storage 105, an integrated speaker to prompt the trainee to estimate the number of stitches required to close the wound, reinforcing procedural planning skills and during the procedure, and an array of LEDs 108 to indicate active training zones or injury sites.
