MUMBAI, India, July 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411096760 A) filed by Lovely Professional University on December 07, 2024, for Fibulin-5 Biomarker System For Early Pregnancy Detection In Cattle.

Inventors include Deviyani Mahajan; and Manoj Kumar Jena.

The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for early pregnancy detection in cattle using Fibulin-5 as a biomarker. The system comprises a sample collection module for obtaining a biological sample, such as uterine tissue, from a bovine subject. A nucleic acid extraction unit isolates cDNA from the sample, which is then subjected to Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) amplification using specific primers designed to selectively amplify the Fibulin-5 gene. The amplified gene is incorporated into an expression vector, such as pET or pGEX, which includes a promoter for transcription initiation and a purification tag like His-tag or GST-tag. This vector is introduced into a host organism, preferably E. coli, via a transformation module employing methods like heat shock or electroporation, to express the Fibulin-5 protein. The protein purification unit uses affinity chromatography to isolate the expressed protein, which is then analyzed for biological activity using assays such as ELISA.
