MUMBAI, India, Aug. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611073338 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Roorkee on June 12, 2026, for Flexible Piezoelectric Nanogenerators (pengs) For Self-Powered Electronic Systems.
Inventors include Kaur, Davinder; and Shankhdhar, Satyam.
The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a flexible piezoelectric nanogenerator device (100) for converting mechanical energy into electrical energy is disclosed. The device includes a flexible substrate (102) configured to undergo mechanical deformation under applied force, a bottom electrode layer (104) disposed on or integrated with the flexible substrate (102) and configured as a first electrical contact, a piezoelectric active layer (106) disposed over the bottom electrode layer (104) and including a scandium-doped aluminum nitride thin film configured to generate electrical charges in response to mechanical strain, and a top electrode layer (108) disposed over the piezoelectric active layer (106) and configured as a second electrical contact. The device further includes an encapsulation layer (110) for environmental protection, electrical output terminals (112) for transmitting generated energy, and an external load (114) for receiving the electrical output, wherein deformation-induced strain generates charges collected and delivered for practical energy harvesting applications.
