Abstract: A universal cord 1 of an endoscope 9 comprises: an elongated cylinder 10 including a spiral tube 20 obtained by spirally winding a strip-shaped plate and a flexible tube 30 provided on the outer circumferential surface of the spiral tube 20, the cylinder 10 having a first end 10A and a second end 10B; two substantially cylindrical bases including a first base 41 fixed to the first end 10A and a second base 42 fixed to the second end 10B; and a wire 50 having a third end 50A and a fourth end 50B, the third end 50A being fixed to the first base 41, the fourth end 50B being fixed to the second base 42, the wire 50 extending through the cylinder 10 and having a smaller elongation rate than the elongation rate of the cylinder 10.
