MUMBAI, India, Aug. 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521006648 A) filed by National Innovation Foundation - India on January 27, 2025, for Flood Detection And Alert System.

Inventor includes Hegde, Amulya.

The application for the patent was published on July 31, 2026, under issue no. 31/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a flood detection and alert system (100) including a pole (102) to monitor rising water levels and provide timely warnings in flood- prone areas. The pole (102) is a hollow vertical structure with a water inlet (104) positioned at a predefined height, allowing floodwater to enter while preventing rainwater ingress. Inside the pole (102), a floating ball (108) rises with the water level, and at least one sensor (110) detects its movement to generate a signal. The system (100) includes a signal unit (112) mounted on the pole (102), which processes the signal to determine the water level and compares with predefined thresholds. Based on the detected level, the system (100) activates one or more visual indicators (116) to display the status and an alert unit (118) to emit an audible warning.
