MUMBAI, India, July 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202617062179 A) filed by University Of Canterbury on May 15, 2026, for Fluid Bed Adsorption System With Co-Current Thermal Regeneration Of The Adsorbent And Method Of Operation.

Abstract: An adsorption/desorption system configured to adsorb a proportion of a feed gas in an adsorbent, to produce a processed gas and spent adsorbent, then desorb between 90% and 100% of said proportion of the feed gas from the spent adsorbent to produce a desorption gas, a clean adsorbent and a desorbed product; said adsorption/desorption system including an adsorption circuit and a desorption circuit where: - the adsorption circuit includes a multi-stage adsorption vessel with a plurality of vertically separated adsorber stages, such that each stage is configured to operate as an independent bubbling fluid bed of adsorbent; - the desorption circuit includes a desorption vessel including a desorption stage configured to operate as a fluid bed in the fast fluid or gas lift/transport regime; and - the desorption stage is configured to regenerate the spent adsorbent using the desorption gas as a fluidising gas and heat transfer medium; such that, the desorption gas is the gas desorbed by the spent adsorbent to create the clean adsorbent, the desorbed product is a proportion of the desorption gas removed from the desorption circuit as a product stream and the clean adsorbent is up to 100% of the adsorbent that enters the adsorption vessel when the adsorption/desorption system is at steady state.
