Abstract: Described herein is flushing systems [100] for toilets. The flushing system comprises a foot plate assembly [11], a cable assembly [12] coupled to the foot plate assembly [11], and a flush valve assembly [13] coupled to the cable assembly [12]. The flush valve assembly [13] is operated, through the cable assembly [12] upon application of an external force on the foot plate assembly [11], to move from an idle state [200] to a water-fill state [300] to fill the flush valve assembly with water. The flush valve assembly [13] is operated, through the cable assembly [12] upon removal of the external force on the foot plate assembly [11], to move from the water- fill state [300] to a water-dispensing state [400] to dispense water from the flush valve assembly for flushing the toilet.
