Inventor includes Dr. Priyanka Ghosh.

The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.

Abstract: FOOD-GRADE, BACTERICIDAL, LUBRICANT COMPOSITIONS AND PROCESS OF PREPARATION OF THE SAME The present invention relates to a biodegradable, food-grade grease composition derived from vegetable oils and formulated using a mixed-alkali metallic soap system in combination with polyol-based humectants. The composition comprises 10–40 wt% of vegetable oils, 2–20 wt% of food grade alkali hydroxide, 5–20 wt% of polyols selected from glycerol, sorbitol, and propylene glycol, and 40–60 wt% water. Controlled saponification results in a stable, homogeneous, thixotropic gel matrix exhibiting a cone penetration of 235– 290 (ASTM D217), drop point of 65–100°C (ASTM D566), and pH in the range of 9–11. The composition demonstrates biodegradability of at least 90% within 28 days (OECD 301B). The grease is water-soluble, non-toxic, odourless, and compatible with elastomers, plastics, and metals. It is particularly suitable for applications in potable water pipelines, pipe jointing systems, and food-processing equipment under moderate temperature conditions.
