Abstract: A food item steaming and straining device comprising a body 101 adapted to receive and hold food items for steaming and straining, a collapsible heat-resistant mesh structure 102 configured to expand for holding varying quantities of food and collapse for storage, a plurality of apertures to allow passage of steam and drainage of water, a motorized C-shaped clamp 104 to suspend the body 101 within a cooking vessel, a telescopic link 103 to adjust vertical position of the body 101 to maintain a predefined immersion level, vent flaps to regulate internal steam conditions, an optical sensor and depth sensor to detect water level and cooking completion, a temperature sensor to monitor water or steam temperature, a pressure sensor to detect lifting force for safe operation, a water-flow sensor to regulate drainage, and a gas sensor to detect gases during cooking and lift the body 101 to prevent overcooking.
